The aroma of freshly baked bread is simply divine and when you know that it’s home made and healthy , it’s the icing on the cake. These dinner rolls can just be eaten warm with butter or you can use them to make home made burgers. My favourite is a veggie patty in the burger , topped with caramelised onions and chipotle mayo dip to add the tang. I have used the KitchenAid stand mixer to make the dough but it can be done by hand too.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup Luke warm milk

Method:

Mix flour , honey , salt and yeast in a bowl and knead with the Luke warm milk and add water , as much as required, to make a soft dough. Put the oil on the kitchen counter and incorporate it into the dough, kneading it for 10 mins , using the stretch and roll technique. Leave the dough covered in a warm place for at least an hour or till it double in volume . After the rise, punch the dough lightly and make equal size balls out of it . Place the dough balls on a greased tray and give them an egg or milk wash. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and leave the tray covered for another 15 mins. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 15-20 mins.
