I have been using a lot of sweet potatoes in my cooking , for it is known to be healthier than potatoes and has a great flavour. Sweet potato chaat is served hot on the streets of north India, in winter and is most delectable. Here I have created my version of this yummy dish , which is fancier and lovely to serve at a party or high tea.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp roasted zeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp black rock salt
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp aamchur or dry mango powder
  • 1/4 th cup chopped coriander

Method:

Wash the sweet potatoes well and par boil them with the skin on . Chop of the two ends and cut into two pieces. Cut one end more, if required , to make it stable enough to stand. Scoop out from the broader end leaving enough flesh on the sides and bottom. In a bowl mash the scooped out part and add all the dry spices. Add the lemon juice and mix well. Fill this stuffing back into the sweet potato pieces and bake on high temp for 10 mins. This gives the sweet potato a nice grilled flavour. Bring them out and garnish with coriander and serve hot. They can be eaten with or without the skin.
