Bananas are such a versatile fruit . It’s like an all day snack or even desert . But every time I buy bananas , a few of them always become overripe and mushy. Then the best way to consume them is to make a smoothie or a milk shake with them. Today I converted them into a chocolate banana bread. The good part is that as the bananas ripen , their sweetness increases and they are perfect for cooking.


  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup coco powder
  • 3/4 th cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup low fat yoghurt
  • 1/4 th cup oil
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 th tsp salt


Method :

Preheat the oven to 180 degree. Mix the mashed bananas with yoghurt and baking soda and keep aside for a while . In another bowl whisk the egg , oil , sugar and vanilla. Sieve flour , coco powder, baking powder , cinnamon and salt. Add banana mixture with the oil mixture and add this to the dry mix. Stir till it is just moistened and bake in a loaf tin for 45 -55 minutes .
