In my family, we all greatly enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine. Being vegetarians this cuisine offers a wide variety of dishes which are all so flavorful and fresh. Muhamara is a dip served with pita bread and I was recently introduced to this lovely dip at a Mediterranean restaurant. Here I present my version of the muhamara.
Ingredients:
- 2 red bell peppers
- 5-6 pieces of sun dried tomatoes
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
- 2 tsps of strong chilli powder
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 slice of bread
Method:
Roast the bell peppers on a high flame till charred and wash off the peel in cold water. Deseed the peppers and chop them roughly.
Blend everything together to a smooth consistency and refrigerate. Before serving bring to room temperature and garnish with extra virgin olive oil and some more pomegranate seeds.
Enjoy with freshly baked pita.
We’ve made this and enjoyed it thoroughly at home so many times! It turns out really well! Thanks for this recipe!
