Muhamara

In my family, we all greatly enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine. Being vegetarians this cuisine offers a wide variety of dishes which are all so flavourful and fresh. Muhamara is a dip served with pita bread and I was recently introduced to this lovely dip at a Mediterranean restaurant. Here I present my version of the muhamara.

Ingredients:

2 red bell peppers

5-6 pieces of sun dried tomatoes

2-3 cloves of garlic

1/2 cup walnuts

4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1/4 cup pomegranate seeds

2 tsps of strong chilli powder

1 tsp black pepper powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

1 slice of bread

Method:

Roast the bell peppers on a high flame till charred and wash off the peel in cold water. Deseed the peppers and chop them roughly. Blend everything together to a smooth consistency and refrigerate. Before serving bring to room temperature and garnish with extra virgin olive oil and some more pomegranate seeds. Enjoy with freshly baked pita.
